Need a fix of that Italian layered goodness?
The Italian dish lasagna has always been known for its use of wide pasta. It is perhaps one of the oldest types of pasta, originating in Italy back in the Middle Ages. The first recorded lasagna recipe was found in one of the pages of Liber de Coquina (The Book of Cookery) back in the 14th century according to the Wayback Machine.
Nowadays, we know lasagna for its layered goodness, with lean ground beef and tomato sauce all in between. The top part has been lathered with cheese for that creamy taste. It is sometimes topped with herbs such as oregano and basil.
