Us Filipinos really do love our rice, don’t we? Apart from our unlimited rice obsession, kakanin, derived from kain and kanin, is also considered to be the ultimate Filipino merienda. Rocha’s Puto and Kutsinta

Nanay Aida’s

A fun new twist to your regular orange-y brown kutsinta, Nanay Aida’s Black Kutsinta is not one to miss. It’s made with molasses to give it that black color and is topped with a dulce de leche sauce or yema spread and toasted coconut flakes also known as niyog—giving regular kutsinta a richer, deeper, and more sinful look and flavor.

Aling Kika’s

The famous Aling Kika’s bibingka is made from premium glutinous or sticky rice, freshly squeezed coconut milk and sugar. It is topped with ‘latik’ and baked in a stone oven or pugon which gives it a distinct smokey flavor that’s become their trademark since their humble beginnings in the 70s.

Maja Blanca

Minatamis

Minatamis is an online-based shop where you can get all your kakanin and ginataan cravings satisfied. From biko to leche flan and other gems like paralosdos, they have it all. Their maja blanca in particular, a sweetened coconut milk custard studded with corn kernels and topped with coconut milk curd comes in a 6×6-inch tub and costs PHP 280.
