The Philippines will be celebrating Independence Day this coming June 12. This special day celebrates the Philippines’ total freedom from Spain back in 1898 — that’s 123 years of independence!
And what better way to celebrate the Philippine Independence day by eating all our favorite Filipino food? Here are five different sets from our favorite restaurants, made and arranged for your all-Pinoy family.
Mesalo-Salo Set menu – Mesa
Mesa’s set menu called “Mesalo-Salo” is good for family reunions and large gatherings. You can choose from three sets, which all feature authentic Filipino food.
Set A will tickle your salty palate with dishes like tinapa roll, Mesa braised beef, laing, shrimp salted egg, grilled liempo Mesa way, and sisig rice.
Set B gives homier options with sinigang salmon head, garlic chicken, crispy boneless tilapia, Bicol express, Mesa braised beef, and pancit canton.
Set C is made for seafood lovers with its baby squid in olive oil, inihaw sampler, and tinapa rice along with other dishes like sisig, Bicol express, and kare kare beef and tripe.
Available for: Dine in, pickup, and delivery via GrabFood and FoodPanda.
Fiesta Salo-Salo sa Bilao – Buddy’s
Answer your pancit cravings with Buddy’s famous Pancit Lucban. You can pair it with handaan favorites like tender chicken barbecue and crispy lumpiang shanghai. Of course, the party wouldn’t be complete without heaps of rice and liters of their house blend iced tea.
Available for: Al fresco dining, dine in, and delivery via GrabFood and FoodPanda.
De Los Santos Set – Crisostomo
Filipino restaurant Crisostomo loves showing off its patriotic side not just on its dishes, but also on some of the names on its menu.
Their two platter meals, for example, were named after icons that shaped the Philippine history such as Filipino historian Epifanio de los Santos y Cristóbal (yes, Mr. EDSA!) and novelist Pedro Paterno.
De Los Santos is their meat and seafood platter. It consists of sticks of pork barbecue, pieces of liempo, chicken, pusit, bangus, tahong and inihaw na talong and atchara.
Meanwhile, Paterno will give you flavors of the local sea with offers like tuna and bangus belly, pusit, fried hito, hipon, tahong, inihaw na tilapia and atchara all in one handy bilao.
Available for: Al-fresco dining (for Eastwood and Robinsons Magnolia branches), curbside pick-up, take-out, and delivery. You may order online here or through GrabFood, FoodPanda, or PickAroo.
