EAT-o na ang UP!

The University of the Philippines is more than just a home to millions of “Iskolar ng Bayan”. The beautiful campus is also a sanctuary of various flora and fauna, housing great works of arts and sciences, but most of all, it’s a great spot for affordable yet enjoyable foodtrips!

If you’ve been around UP Diliman, you’ll notice that there are a lot of food vendors and kiosks in different corners of the area. You’ll find peddlers selling Pinoy favorites such as taho, banana cue, and turon. Occasionally, there’s a cart selling buko juice taken straight from the coconut (talk about fresh!). You’ll also see numerous stalls that offer to cook pancit canton, kwek-kwek and fishballs, and even burgers or sandwiches!

Rodic’s

When in UP, it’s a must to try Rodic’s famous tapsilog! A dish that stood the test of time, Rodic’s Tapsilog still uses the same, traditional recipe that brings comfort and satisfaction to the customer. The tapa bits are flavorful, with a balance of sweet and salty. Pair it with a perfectly cooked egg and garlic rice and you’re all set!

The Snack Shack

Snack Shack is a well-loved burger shop in UP Diliman that’s truly one of a kind. Their burgers are not only affordable, but they’re also juicy, meaty, packed with flavor, and made fresh daily! Other items on their menu are hotdogs, fries, and chicken wings!

Nomu

Craving a coffee or milktea? Nomu’s got you! Their brews always hit the spot and are perfect to pair with their pizza that comes in flavors of Black Truffle, 5 Cheese , Creamy Spinach, Pesto Speck, Salame Piccante (Spicy Pepperoni), and Margherita!

ArkiVickie

There are a lot of kiosks around UP that offer siomai, but no one else does it like ArkiVickie! This food stall near the College of Architecture serves siomai with a whole quail egg inside that’s best paired with their famous PanTea, aka Pandan Vanilla Tea!

Iskape

Iskape is a new coffee spot inside the campus, near the College of Fine arts that serves delicious cups of joe to those who need a kick of caffeine to get through acads/work hell week. This neighborhood cafe is charming and homey, offering dishes like pizzas, chicken wings, belgian waffles, toasted sandwiches, and pastries!

Rambo’s Steak and Destroy

Jing’s Lutong Bahay

The savior of all students, especially those on a tight budget, is Jing’s Lutong Bahay, another famous food spot in Area 2. They are best known for their shakes, particularly their Mango Graham Shake! They’re open early to serve breakfast until night time for dinner. You can always count on them for sulit, delicious, home-cooked meals.

Iskomai

Tipid muna? Head over to Iskomai! For less than P50, you can get a full meal of rice with siomai (they offer different kinds!), sausage, gyoza, lumpiang shanghai, and luncheon meat! And if you want to end the meal on a sweet note, they offer iskrambol, too!

Located at the Bahay ng Alumni, Art Circle Cafe is the perfect spot to unwind after a long day. The interiors are colorful and relaxing, and the vibe is peaceful and calm. They have rice meals, burgers, salads, pastries, and coffee!
