Your hair also needs some love and care
It’s easy to forget about self-care especially during this difficult period of the coronavirus outbreak but you must always remember that apart from helping others, you should also help and care for yourself.
One thing that we can so easily miss is caring for our hair especially with the summer heat coming along; it’s tempting to shampoo every single day but in case you didn’t know, frequent washing actually damages your hair!
To keep your tresses glowing and healthy, we got a handful of tips from hair expert, Jo Tubato, the Creative Director of Azta Urban Salon!
Insider tip: When we're back to regular programming, you can catch him at the Eastwood branch every Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. For Mondays and Tuesdays, he'll be at their Circuit branch.
Now let’s give your hair some much needed TLC.
Vinegar Rinse
We know what you’re thinking… VINEGAR? But don’t knock it until you’ve tried it! This DIY Vinegar Hair Rinse will help close the cuticle of your hair, making it smooth and shiny. It’s best to do this once every two weeks.
- Prepare your vinegar mixture, it’s just a 1:1 ratio of water and vinegar (you can use ACV or the regular white distilled one)
- Shampoo your hair
- For conditioning, use the vinegar mixture you prepped and leave it on for 2-3 minutes.
- Rinse thoroughly
Shampoo & Scalp Care
It’s advised not to shampoo your hair everyday especially if your hair is chemically treated as the water tends to swell the hair from the inside, damaging the cuticle and creating rigid texture to your hair.
Cold water is best when you wash your hair, warm water can strip the essential oils and leave you with dry and dehydrated tresses.
Once a day, try massaging your scalp for 5 minutes; this will help increase circulation and amplifies the red blood cells in your scalp area that helps hair growth and rejuvenation. You can also do this trick while you’re applying conditioner.
If you must frequently wash your hair, skip the shampoo but use conditioner and a hair mask instead.
Lastly, don’t cut your own hair as this can lead to even worse split ends.
In your free time…
Since many of us are stuck at home, Tubato suggests that now’s the best time to learn techniques on how to style your hair on your own! There are a bunch of tutorials on YouTube to choose from and here are a few,
