Tomo Japanese Dining<\/a> – San Juan<\/h2>\n
There’s no\u00a0question that Filipinos love Japanese food. From ramen, to sushi, to katsudon, to dessert and to sushi again, the list of our favorite Japanese dishes goes on and on.<\/p>\n
That’s why when we found out about\u00a0Tomo Japanese\u00a0Dining<\/strong>, located in San Juan, we were super excited. After all, there’s no such thing as too much Japanese food!<\/p>\n

Tomo Japanese Dining is helmed\u00a0by sushi Chef Tom<\/strong>, formerly from Sugi<\/a>, and a partner friend. As some of you may know, Sugi said\u00a0sayonara<\/em> to San Juan after closing its doors about 3 years ago. That’s why\u00a0Tomo’s opening\u00a0will probably\u00a0be welcome news to people living in the neighborhood– they\u00a0now have another go-to Japanese restaurant\u00a0just around the corner.<\/p>\n
'Tomo' means 'friend' in Japanese. The character for it is proudly displayed on the restaurant's logo. Also, the head chef's name is Tom. Coincidence? We\u00a0think not!<\/pre>\n
Tomo is\u00a0located in a refurbished house with modern,\u00a0minimalist Japanese interiors<\/strong>. A lot of light wood is used in the fixtures and furniture making it easy on the eyes. It\u00a0also has an outdoor Japanese-style garden that would be great\u00a0for\u00a0outdoor events\u00a0once it formally opens, perfect\u00a0for when\u00a0the weather cools down.<\/p>\n

All of our\u00a0Japanese favorites seem like they’ll be present on Tomo’s menu–\u00a0sushi and sashimi, donburi rice bowls, tempura\u00a0and ramen.<\/p>\n

Customers have a choice between\u00a0Batangas tenderloin, Australian Ribeye steak and Wagyu Saikoro\u00a0steak when they order Tomo’s\u00a0teppanyaki.<\/p>\n

Fact:<\/strong> Tomo serves big eye tuna sashimi--this isn't\u00a0your everyday tuna! Most Japanese restaurants commonly\u00a0use yellowfin tuna, which is of a lower grade than big eye.<\/pre>\n
Other dishes\u00a0that we’re excited to try are Tomo’s Japanese-style spaghetti, okonomiyaki, and\u00a0teppanyaki! Special items include: Kaki Cheese Yaki (and Kari Kari Kariyaki (fried oysters)<\/span><\/p>\n
