But if you&#8217;re up for the challenge, why not <strong>recreate their famous and iconic Orange Chicken<\/strong>! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"770\" height=\"552\" src=\"https:\/\/sih.booky.ph\/eyJrZXkiOiJibG9nXC93cC1jb250ZW50XC91cGxvYWRzXC8yMDIwXC8wNVwvMDQxODQ5MDZcL0JLWS1KVC1QYW5kYUV4cHJlc3MtOTg2My5qcGciLCJidWNrZXQiOiJib29reXJlcG9ydCJ9\" alt=\"orange chicken recipe panda express\" class=\"wp-image-157830\" decoding=\"async\"><figcaption>Photo from Booky<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>We found this recipe from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=N_87Ow7HTdQ&amp;feature=youtu.be&amp;fbclid=IwAR0KK_CUzGUmlJUh6o025jMEXAx1ayYrpqtz-WzAU47a0hNQbpLamEhAqwo\">Joshua Weissman<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Ingredients:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For the sauce:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>3\/4 cup (170g) sugar<\/li><li>3\/4 cup (180ml) white vinegar<\/li><li>1\/3 cup plus 1 tbsp (90ml) soy sauce<\/li><li>1\/4 cup (60ml) water<\/li><li>Zest and juice of 1 orange<\/li><li>Saixing wine (traditional Chinese wine) &#8211; optional<\/li><li>Chinkian vinegar (black vinegar) &#8211; optional<\/li><li>1 tablespoon (10g) cornstarch + 1tbcp water = slurry<\/li><li>4 cloves garlic, grated<\/li><li>2 inch knob ginger, grated<\/li><li>1-2 red chilies, finely minced<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>For the chicken:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Chicken thighs<\/li><li>2 eggs<\/li><li>Salt<\/li><li>MSG &#8211; optional<\/li><li>1 cup (140g) cornstarch<\/li><li>1\/2 cup (75g) all purpose flour<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"770\" height=\"552\" src=\"https:\/\/sih.booky.ph\/eyJrZXkiOiJibG9nXC93cC1jb250ZW50XC91cGxvYWRzXC8yMDIwXC8wNVwvMDQxODQ5MTZcL0JLWS1KVC1QYW5kYUV4cHJlc3MtOTgyMy5qcGciLCJidWNrZXQiOiJib29reXJlcG9ydCJ9\" alt=\"orange chicken recipe panda express\" class=\"wp-image-157831\" decoding=\"async\"><figcaption>Photo from Booky<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Procedure<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>Start with the sauce &#8211; in a medium pan, combine sugar, white vinegar, soy sauce, water, zest and juice of 1 orange. Mix them all together and bring it up to a high heat for it boil.\u00a0<\/li><li>OPTIONAL: Once it comes to a boil, reduce to medium heat and let it simmer. Add in a splash of saixing wine (traditional Chinese wine) and chinkian vinegar (black vinegar)<\/li><li>In a separate bowl, combine cornstarch and water until thoroughly mixed for your slurry then whisk it in your sauce. Let it simmer for about 1 to 2 minutes or until it thickens up.\u00a0<\/li><li>Immediately, add in the grated garlic, ginger and finely minced chilies. Let it steep and you\u2019re done with the sauce.\u00a0<\/li><li>Next up is your chicken &#8211; cut your chicken thighs into bite-sized pieces. Lightly season them with salt and MSG (optional).\u00a0<\/li><li>In another bowl, add cornstarch and all purpose flour. Whisk them together until fully combined.\u00a0<\/li><li>In a separate bow, whisk together 2 eggs with a splash of water.\u00a0<\/li><li>Set up your chicken stations\u00a0(dry mixture, wet ingredients and your chicken) in a line.<\/li><li>Toss a handful of chicken into the flour\/cornstarch mixture. Once evenly coated, toss them into the egg mixture and then toss them back to the flour\/cornstarch mixture. Make sure there are no wet spots. Repeat until all of your chicken pieces are coated.\u00a0<\/li><li>Fill in a large pot with oil, around 3 inches deep, and preheat it to 375F.<\/li><li>Once it\u2019s hot, fry your chicken in batches for around 3 to 5 minutes or until light golden brown.
