Pound it like you mean it!
Wanderlust (n.), an irresistible desire to travel to understand one’s very existence.
Vanderlust is a passion project by husband and wife, Mark Anthony and Valerie. Coming from their European honeymoon in 2013 and having experienced the diverse and rich culture there inspired them to bring pieces of that trip back home. Both left the corporate world soon after and the rest is history.
Fun Fact: The “V” in Vanderlust stands for Valerie and “A” stands for Anthony. Vanderlust is also how Germans would pronounce Wanderlust.
Vanderlust features delicacies from three European countries namely: Italy, Germany, and Spain. Its specialties are three homegrown pastries: Cannoli (Italy), Schneeballe (Germany), and Spanish Churros (Spain).
Cannoli
Fun fact: Cannolo, its singular form, means "little tube".
The cannoli [ke-nolē] is an Italian dessert pastry from Sicily, a region known for its ancient castles and world heritage sites dating back to Greek times. It is also popular in Italian-American cuisine and usually consists of tube-shaped shells of fried pastry dough, filled with a sweet, creamy filling usually containing ricotta.
Each order comes in three’s, pick from these flavors:
Purple Yam, Earl Gray, Chocolate Pistachio, White Chocolate Lemon, Chocolate Chip
Churros
A churro is a Spanish fried-dough pastry and is normally eaten for breakfast dipped in warm hot chocolate, dulce de leche and other sauces. It has quickly gained popularity in the Philippines as an afternoon snack or dessert. Vanderlust offers various signature and premium churro flavors.
Premium: Red Velvet, Peanut Butter & Jelly, Dulce de Leche, Valencia
Signature: Maple Bacon, Parmesan Ham
We’ve seen a lot of churros this year and we’ve seen homemade cannolis here and there in weekend markets, but it’s really Vanderlust’s schneeball that got our attention.
Schneeballen
In English, it’s called a snowball. It is a German pastry made from shortcrust pastry rounded and shaped like balls with a diameter of about eight to ten centimeters and is traditionally decorated with confectioner’s sugar. Check out all the wonderful flavors Vanderlust has in store for all of us:
Original: Matcha, Peanut Brittle, Calamansi, Pineapple, Strawberries & Cream
Chocolate: Hazelnut Crunch, Mocha Tiramisu, Cookies & Cream
But what really stands out for this pastry is that guests are given a hammer to pound on it before eating! You can get these Schneeballen in half dozen or one dozen boxes.
We’re calling it, Schneeballen is going to be the next big thing to pop out of your feeds!
Aside from the patisserie, Vanderlust is also a bistro serving hot menu items that are signatures of Italy, Spain and Germany. Some of their most popular dishes include the:
Bistecca Florentine
Pepper crusted USDA porterhouse steak served with potato wedges and buttered vegetables. Serving size is perfect for sharing.
Porkchop with Mustard Cream Sauce, Sauerkraut and Mashed Potato
Approx 300g of porkchop served with creamy mustard sauce, German fermented cabbage and mashed potato. You may order 1 or 2 servings of pork chops.
Travel to Italy, Germany and Spain with your palate at Vanderlust Bistro + Patisserie. Pair their delectable dishes and desserts with specialty coffee, European wines and beers!
