Cool Down

The first step to a good post-workout happens right after you workout! Though we know the feeling of wanting to just lie down and pass out after an intense workout, it’s really important to make room for a good cool down.

Cooling down can range from getting a good and deep stretching session going to taking on some light and easy cardio or simply doing a less intense and less challenging version of your previous workout.

Not cooling down properly and diving right into a shower can shock your body which can put you at risk.

If you don’t have the time or opportunity to shower after a workout, then even just changing from your wet and soggy workout clothes to something more dry and fresh can have a positive effect on your health! A change of clothes removes takes away excess moisture on your body, which reduces the chance of bacteria, skin rashes, and breakouts from spreading.

Get a bit Snacky

Who doesn’t love a good snack? Snacking always feels better after you’ve earned it after a workout, but be sure what you’re munching on or drinking down is actually good for you!

Though it isn’t an exact number, you should generally eat your post-workout snack or meal within 45 minutes of the workout. Whether if it’s in the form of a smoothie or a pre-prepared meal, just make sure that whatever you’re eating is rich in protein, healthy fats, and carbs.

After burning energy and exerting our bodies during a workout, the perfect post-workout snack can be instrumental in ensuring a quicker and more effective recovery period.

Relax with a Massage

It might not be the easiest thing to do right after a workout, but getting a massage is definitely a great step to add in your post-workout routine. The right post-workout massage can help reduce inflammation and soreness in your muscles and even boost recovery!
