The Samgyupsal is the newest 24/7 Korean spot in Malate. It offers a wide selection of Korean specialties starting with unlimited appetizers down to grilled meats. It’s for nights when you’re in the mood for authentic Korean eats—lots of it. It’s not for those who wouldn’t wanna smell like grilled meat after they eat. We recommend the Yangnyum Degigalbi, Wagyu Chadobagi, and of course, the Samgyupsal. Our insider tip: Aside from free unlimited appetizers, each table gets a complimentary bowl of shell soup, too!

It’s not for nights when you want cheap drinks and affordable grub. We recommend their Special Bagnet, Bulalo, and their cocktails, of course. Our insider tip: They also have a buffet selection!

When doors first opened for this 75 year old restaurant, it was merely a small business venture for husband and wife Alex and Engracia Reyes. With their spread aptly described as “Food fit for Royalty”, Aristocrat has always been and always will be a family favorite. It’s for the barbeque connoisseur who craves that classic sweet, tangy grilled flavor. It’s not for those who want a modern twist on Filipino food. We recommend their Aristocrat Classics (Chicken Barbeque, Pork Barbeque and Pork Spareribs Barbeque). Our insider tip: They accept home deliveries but only for a minimum order. P.S. Their Roxas Blvd. and Jupiter branches are open 24/7.

Ippudo is a popular ramen joint specializing in Hakata-style Tonkotsu (pork-based) ramen produced in their kitchen and tailor-fitted for the Filipino palate. It is a joint venture with the guys at Yabu. It’s for straight up ramen minus the fancy embellishments of modern cuisine. It’s not for people looking for an extensive Japanese menu, although special items are occasionally introduced. We recommend their Shiromaru Motoji Ramen and the Pork Buns–plus the new Tsukemen Ramen. Our insider tip: Cute “kiddie sets” may be requested for your little ones. P.S. Ippudo just opened their SM Mall of Asia branch!

Often tagged as one of the most beautiful fine dining restaurants in Manila, Champagne Room has been able to maintain its classic charm among its patrons. It’s for romantic dates on special occasions, from Valentine’s to anniversaries and more. It’s not for diners on a budget. We recommend the Symphonie De Sarmon and Entrecote De Boeuf Grille. Our insider tip: They offer a choice between set menus and a la carte!

Pablo is one of Japan’s (and the entire world’s) most popular cheese tart specialists. Apart from their famous cheese tarts, they also serve premium flavored tarts, sabrel cheeses, puddings, and soft-serve ice cream. It’s for the cheese lovers and dessert fanatics. It’s not for those trying to keep a low sugar intake. We recommend the Mini Cheese Tarts, Matcha Premium Cheese Tart, and their Golden Brulee Cheese Pudding. Our insider tip: Aside from their famous tarts, you have to try their equally delicious Cheese Soft Serve. Tim Hortons is Canada’s world-renowned coffee house. After months of its rumored arrival to the Philippines, we’ve confirmed that it’s soon to open in Ermita and has already opened in BGC! It’s for all coffee lovers who have a taste for premium caffeine blends and all the pastries that go with it. It’s not for third-wave coffee enthusiasts. We recommend the Original Blend Coffee, Iced Capps, and their donuts. Our insider tip: We have unconfirmed news that it’s opening this month of February. Read more here.
