Because men care for their skin too!
Skin care can be daunting at first, with so many different products that have different uses and different effects. It’s even more of a hassle for guys, who usually don’t have enough patience to do any of it. But taking care of the skin is very important in maintaining a healthy body. Worry not for guys out there, here are some basic things you can do to keep that healthy shine.
Stay Hydrated
I’m sure everyone hears about the importance of drinking water and always being hydrated. Water flushes out toxins from the body, and so drinking more than 8 glasses of water a day is definitely important. This helps keep the skin healthy and fresh.
Tip: Bring your own tumbler everywhere you go so you won't have to buy a bottle every time. This also lessens plastic use!
Wash your face
Your face gets a lot of exposure to dirt daily, and cleaning it should be something you’re invested in. Cleaning your face twice a day, once when you wake up and once before you go to bed, should help keep it clean from accumulated bacteria.
As a bonus tip, it’s better to use a different towel to wipe your face, from the one you use to wipe your body, to help keep it as free of dirt as possible.
Don’t let the lips chap!
Men’s lips can get dry and chapped too, and not only is it unpleasant, but it might also hurt and bleed.
Use lip balm to help keep your lips moisturized. Avoid licking your lips as well, as to not dry them out. Drink lots of water as well to keep yourself well-hydrated.
Tip: Don't use a flavored lip balm, so that you won't be tempted to lick your lips.
Exfoliate
Exfoliating is basically a deeper cleaning of your skin. It removes dead skin cells, as well as excess oil and dirt, that if left there, would otherwise cause acne and other blemishes.
Don’t worry, this isn’t an everyday thing, and should only be done twice a week. Any more than that might cause irritation to the skin, among others.
It’s much better to exfoliate after cleansing your face, so that you can scrub the deeper dirt and oils on your skin much easier. Also remember to scrub gently, to avoid causing roughness on your skin.
Moisturize
Moisturizing is one of the most important steps in taking care of your skin. Cleansing and exfoliating your skin, among others, will leave your skin in a vulnerable state. Moisturizing keeps your skin hydrated, and protects it from dirt and other particles that can damage your skin.
It also helps with anti-aging, keeping your skin young and healthy.
This all might seem like a lot due to all the extra scrubbing and cleaning you have to do, but it’s really just about making sure your skin is clean, hydrated, and protected. Once you’ve built a habit of doing all of these, it will be as normal as taking a bath everyday.
Trust me, your skin will thank you for it.
