Ladies and gents, this is the future.
Baristas spend many years perfecting their latte art skills–free pour, customized latte art, and even 3D foam art. Last month, we even featured the first rainbow latte in the Philippines. But now, the new trend is in–digital latte art.
Although it may seem impossible to most people but now you can actually print your photo on your cup of joe. You read that right, you can now fully customize your latte with actual pictures!
The selfie coffee trend started in Singapore at a shop called “Selfie Coffee”, which has become sort of a tourist spot when it hit the internet last year. Other “selfie cafes” can be found in Hong Kong, Malaysia, and Seoul, Korea.
Here in Manila, we have not just one, but TWO hip cafes that are serving this trendy drink.
Uke Box Caffe – Katipunan
Uke Box Cafe is a unique ukulele-themed coffee shop and is arguably the first cafe in the Philippines to bring in this coffee trend here. Aside from their selfie coffee art, customers can also purchase local and imported ukuleles at their store and even perform live acoustic sets at their open mic sessions.
Fun fact: They use edible ink for their prints so it's totally safe to eat!

Selfie Cafe – Robinsons Galleria
Selfie Cafe just opened last September 14 and already has plans to expand to other malls soon. Not only do they print your digital selfie on your coffee, but on pastries like cookies and cupcakes as well! All you have to do is take a selfie at the “selfie corner” using their in house cellphone, or choose a photo that you want to get printed, whether it’s your favorite cartoon character or a special group shot with your friends.
Fun fact: Selfie Cafe uses Italian coffee beans for all their brews.
