From meringue to ~meringué~

Meringue cookies are light and airy morsels made of sugar and whipped egg white. Typically, you’d receive these melt-in-your-mouth swirls of sugar from relatives as pasalubong, and they’re one of those treats that are pretty addictive once you’ve tried them.

If meringue cookies are something you look forward to when your titas and titos come to visit, Wildflour is giving the ordinary, bite-sized sweets a bigger and fancier twist.

Wildflour – various branches

Though Wildflour Cafe + Bakery’s menu consists of savory dishes that evoke finesse, they also offer an assortment of delicious pastries, breads, and sweets with both a touch of chic and artisanship.

Their newest addition to the menu is the Meringue with Walnuts (₱55), a giant, bigger-than-your-fist sized meringue that’s reminiscent of the meringue cookies found in most pasalubong spots— married with a fancier flair. Wildflour also offers Meringue with Cashew (₱55) and Chocolate Meringue (₱70) for people who just can’t get enough of the tasty dessert.

In case you missed it

Nuts about sansrival? This timeless Filipino dessert’s roots go back to the early Spanish influences in our cuisine, in fact, the word sans rival means “without rival”. Sans rival is a meringue-layered cake filled with buttercream and nuts. The nuts used can vary from cashew, pistachio, pili, and even almond! It’s a favorite dessert served at special occasions (but if we could, we’d have it every other day, tbh)

Update: Check out our new Buy 1 Get 1 deals this week!

We put together a list of places around Metro Manila that serve this dessert without rival. Go nuts!

One of their bestselling desserts is actually their Cashew Sans rival!
