Book a table and get ₱500 off

Roast was born from a 16 year old Christmas tradition. It all started in 2002, when the owner of Roast began selling bibingka and puto bumbong at the Simbang Gabi market held across the then newly-built Gesu Church inside Ateneo de Manila University.

She did this year after year until her delicious bibingka earned a loyal following of customers who would eventually become her life-long friends. It was only in 2014 that they were finally able to convince her to open a restaurant.

Think back to a time you enjoyed a really good meal at a classmate’s house. The food served was probably nothing out of the ordinary but it was memorable because it was honest, unpretentious, and damn good home cooking. That’s what it’s like sitting down for a meal at Roast.

Aligue Pasta

So good and so sinful! Roast’s Aligue Pasta is garlicky with just the right amount of citrus to counter the richness of the crab fat.

Quarter Pounder

Roast uses a signature beef blend for their burgers. The patties are juicy and meaty and if that’s not enough, it’s served caramelized onion, mozzarella, aioli, and a side of potato hay.

The restaurant is divided into two parts: the cafe and the dining area. The glass walls enclosing the dining area allow you to enjoy your meal with a surprisingly calming view of Katipunan Extension— perfect for pensive mornings.

On display, you’ll see all the instruments they use to make a terrific cup of coffee. Roast sources their beans from a friend who happens to be a coffee roaster. The beans are roasted in small batches to ensure quality and freshness.

Insider Tip: You can purchase a bag of beans to take home! They have Benguet (medium roast), Barako (dark roast), and an Espresso blend, which is a top-secret blend of imported beans

At night, the cafe turns into a bar. Roast is always stocked with Beer Below Zero, gin, wine, Black Label, and Stolichnaya vodka. Although it wasn’t their intention at first, the restaurant has become a sort of watering hole for residents of the Katipunan area.

Here’s some of the bar chow you can enjoy with your hard drinks:
