At first glance, you might think ‘yup, it’s a hotel restaurant’ but upon closer inspections, you’ll find that the restaurant’s interiors look quite like a modernized Philippines as well.
The beige and gold interiors are reminiscent of the golden brown nipa hut while the decorated light fixtures bring you back to images of the hard-working farmers protected from the tropical sun only by rattan hats.
Owner Edison Lo, who has been in the food business for over a decade, started out with a small cafeteria that grew into a catering business until finally, the opportunity to realize one of his dreams and put up a brick and mortar landed in his hands.

Upon realizing that the Filipino’s palate was getting more and more adventurous, Lo wanted to cater to this creative taste and thus the idea of creating a modern Filipino menu came into fruition. By introducing new flavors to old favorites and vice versa, Ombu Kusina is providing us with an entirely new dining experience.
Salted Egg Spaghettini
Spaghettini tossed in golden sauce of salted egg yolks, sprinkled with tomatoes, cucumber & salted egg whites
Binakol na Manok
Chicken soup flavored with ginger, lemongrass & coconut water
Lechon Kare-Kare
Traditional Flipino roasted pork and vegetables mixed with thick and savory peanut sauce; served with shrimp paste
Mahi-Mahi Sisig
Healthy mix of mahi-mahi flakes, onion and chilli
Pan Fried Sea Bass with Mango Salsa
Flaky and moist seasonal sea bass, lightly seasoned to highlight the delicate flavor of the fish served with ripe mango salsa
Fun Fact: Ombu is a type of tree. Strong and tall, the owners wanted a name consistent with the Sequoia Hotel, which is also a tree.

Crowd favorites include the Crispy Glazed Chicken, Chicken Binakol, Salted Egg Spaghettini, Sisig Pizza, Seafood Mixed Laing; if you want to take it from the owners, their personal favorites are the All-Meat Pizza, Shrimp Paste Rice, Baked Prawns, and Angus Beef Salpicao, Pan-fried Sea Bass.
