You won’t expect this rural-inspired dining experience amidst the busy streets of Makati!
Apag Marangle is a dining destination most popular to the locals and nearby residents of Bacolor, Pampanga. Apag Marangle, which is Kapampangan for ‘hain sa bukid’ or ‘food laid on the fields’, serves a wide selection of authentic and original Kapampangan dishes in an outdoor palaisdaan-style dining setting.
Last January 2015, they opened their first branch in Manila at the Park Square Ayala Center in Makati. This branch mirrors and exudes the same vibe and experience as the original branch in Pampanga.
The restaurant has a capacity of around 300 people and they also have a small function room which can accommodate 20-25 people. You can book in advanced for parties or call ahead for pick-up orders, if you’re working around the area.
Check out the lights above you, they’re bukos!
Watch your step, there’s a hidden catfish pond underneath.
Aside from Pampanga’s more famous specialties such as the sisig, buko pandan, and halo-halo, Apag Marangle also serves sinigang sa kamias or bayabas, tidtad (white dinuguan), and even exotic dishes like betute (stuffed frog), sizzling balut, and camaru (mole crickets).
The lovely Apag Marangle team served us several items from their one-of-a-kind banana leaf menu.
We recommend the Tidtad and Nasing Marangle. You should definitely try the Ebun Malat. Trying out Apag Marangle is definitely a unique city dining experience. Even their restroom transports you to the greenfields. For the adventurous foodies, our off-menu insider tip is you can request for a boodle-style feast, banana leaves will be provided. P.S. Yes, they have free Wi-Fi.
Thank you Ms. Cherry Burwell for the invitation.
