If you’ve been to Seoul, you’ll understand that this is a big deal!

Namoo House

Opens: August 1, 2016

Namoo House or more popularly known as Maple Tree House is a modern, Korean barbecue restaurant from Seoul, Korea. The first Maple Tree store in Samchong-dong opened in 2005 and has grown to a total of four branches (Itaewon, Myeongdong, Gangnam Subway Station) all over Seoul, but its most popular and highly rated branch on TripAdvisor is the Itaewon branch.

Namoo means 'tree' in Korea. Due to trademark by a restaurant of the same name, the group could not use the Maple Tree House brand name.

Namoo House is Maple Tree House’s first international franchise outside of South Korea. Aside from Manila, the brand is also set to open another branch in Taipei this year. The first Namoo House in the Philippines officially opens its doors today, August 1, 2016 at the new Uptown Parade in BGC.

The owners, who are siblings, shared that this is their first venture in F&B. One of them explained that it took 2 years from their first contact to bring Maple Tree House to the Philippines.

Maple Tree House is known for their premium and quality cuts of beef and pork cooked over charcoal grill, and its beautiful interiors.

Namoo House drew inspiration from their Gangnam store. Their signature look involves modern industrial designs and accents, the famous Korean birch trees, and walls adorned with green glass bottles.

Fun fact: Namoo House's birch trees are imported straight from Korea.

What makes loyal customers come back for more is the fact that they offer premium and value-for-money meats. Namoo’s beef cuts are aged for 2 weeks minimum to enrich flavor and their pork is chilled fresh to provide the best taste and texture.

They offer different cuts of meat like the:

Aged USDA Prime Ribeye (150g)

A must order. This is one of their top quality steaks that is well-aged and grilled over real charcoal.

Insider tip: Tap it lightly into their special sesame oil + salt dipping sauce and eat it with either a side of red rice or wrapped in lettuce and other ingredients.

The short ribs are tenderized and marinated in Namoo’s house fruit (pineapple and pear) juice.

Special Jumbo Beef Rib Soup

Namoo’s Galbi Tang (Galbi means ‘beef ribs’ and tang means ‘soup’) comes with 1 slab of beef back ribs boiled for hours to extract the right amount of flavor for the soup.

Every order comes with unlimited side dishes which include: marinated garlic cloves, marinated king oyster mushrooms, seasoned spinach, kimchi, lettuce set, black sesame salad, and sliced garlic and ssamjang.

For people working in the area, Namoo House offers special lunch sets good for two people. Choose among these items: Grilled Beef Bulgogi, Beef Bulgogi Jongol, Woosamgyup (in photo) and Spicy Pork Bulgogi.

Woosamgyup – Short plate brisket slices coated in subtle sweet marinade.

Aside from meats, Namoo also serves authentic Korean dishes like the traditional bibimbap and more.

Stone Bowl Bibimbap

Assorted vegetables and rice heated in a traditional stone bowl to add a crispy effect to a classic Korean meal. It comes with a side of Doenjang Jjigae, a slightly spicy soybean paste stew.

The menu is kept simple and straightforward for very good reason, so don’t look for Korean pancakes or cheese dakgalbi. They don’t aim to be a one-stop Korean restaurant, they just want to be the best in what they do, which is providing quality meat and dishes that people will keep coming back for.

Enjoy your meals with a glass of wine or some traditional soju shots with your meals. All guests are served a glass of special plum juice (which is high in fiber) at the end of their meals to aid in digestion after all the meat intake.

Fun fact: Maple Tree House's COO, June Park, shares that pouring your own sake, or in this case soju, is bad luck!

Diners are in for a treat as their Manila branch will be headed by staff members from Korea: including General Manager Min Hong and Chef Harry. Not to worry because Namoo has dedicated staff to assist you in cooking your dishes for you.
