There’s something very familiar about LōLa Cafe. Whether it’s your first visit, or your fifth, you can’t help but feel relaxed and at home here. Maybe this nostalgic feeling comes from the history of the place– the owners built their restaurant in what was once a post-WWII era residence. The owner of this house on Scout Lozano street was none other than Lola Victoria, the matriarch of the Sanvictores family, and the very same Lola for whom the cafe was named.
The family made a promise to honor their Lola Victoria in the same way that our own grandmothers had shown their care and affection for us when we were growing up— with food. And trust us, you can really taste the love with every bite.
The food coming out of LōLa’s kitchen is nothing short of amazing. They’ve reinvented Filipino comfort food, putting imaginative twists to classic dishes while using only locally-sourced ingredients and freshly procured market products, so you’re assured of quality and value for money.
Despite the progressive approach to food, LōLa still feels like home. Recent renovations have helped to amplify the overall feeling of warmth, hospitality, and togetherness when one dines here. The cafe’s cozy interiors, neutral color palette, and abundance of indoor plants are inviting enough for you to want to unwind, while still being stylish enough for you to want to snap a photo to share with all your followers.
Despite the revamp, the cafe’s best-sellers have not changed since first opening in 2012. (That should tell you something about their consistency!) The undisputed crowd favorites are still the Kare-Kare, Bone Marrow Sisig, Truffle Lengua, and Palabok Negra.
That doesn’t mean they’ve stopped innovating. In fact, quite the opposite. Here are some of the newest dishes they’ve added to the their ever-reliable menu. With all the care that goes into the preparation of each one, we don’t doubt that these will soon make it to your list of go-to orders at LōLa Cafe.
Humba-glazed Belly
Melt-in-your-mouth pork belly gets glazed in humba sauce. A side of chimichurri and chili brightens up this rich dish.
Crispy Pancit Lechon
This one is a treat for the senses! Sinfully good lechon kawali lends contrast to the tender veggies which are served with this crispy noodle dish.
Lapu Lapu Alavar
Here, lapu-lapu is butterflied and deep-fried to perfection. It’s served with spinach, pako, and alavar sauce – a Chavacano specialty that’s sweet, mildly spicy, and aromatic.
With it’s exceptional food and relaxing ambiance, Lola Cafe has remained one of the best spots in Tomas Morato where families and friends can come to celebrate or simply gather.
