Come as you are!

This Pride month—and for the rest of the year, too—we celebrate love and identity in all forms, flavors, and colors! And while the fight for equal rights continues, it’s always a comfort to know that there are places around the city where you can freely express yourself.

Searching for more queer spaces? Read Pride of the Metro: 6 Restaurants and LGBTQ+ Safe Spaces in Manila

Whether you’re an ally or part of the community, you’ll love these 6 LGBTQ-friendly cafes in Metro Manila where you can find a safe space to be who you are. So if you’re looking for those rainbow flags, queer-coded music, and a welcoming haven for some good coffee—here you go!

Blocleaf Cafe

Malate’s hidden coffee gem, Blocleaf Cafe is a cozy coffee nook that’s also loud and proud about equality for the LGBTQ community. You’ll spot the rainbow flag on their window, and upon entering, you’ll be greeted with queer-coded tunes blasting from the speakers.

But more than offering a safe space, Blocleaf Cafe has also been active in holding queer events and activities where members of the community can meet, collaborate, and celebrate one another.

Get your much-needed quiet time with an order of their Ermita (Cold Brew with Vanila Cold Foam) and the Adriatico (Cookie Butter Latte) for something on the indulgent side. For snacks, they offer savory bites like noodle dishes and sandwiches. Their Grilled Cheese hits the spot!

Deuces Coffee

Walking around Legazpi Village in Makati, you can’t miss Deuces Coffee’s pink facade and rainbow flag (which hangs on their window all year round, by the way!).

Deuces is a safe space to express your individuality, whether you’re a customer or part of their staff. Julie Terrei, one of the cafe’s owners, emphasizes the importance of celebrating Pride, especially in a country that still has ways to go regarding equality.

Come here in your full colors and find a cozy spot to wind down while you enjoy their Iced Spanish Latte with their Original Basque Burnt Cheesecake. They also offer a selection of savory Japanese dishes if you’re feeling extra hungry!
