New hair, don’t care!
Having a bad haircut is the absolute worst. Aside from hindering you from feeling cute, there’s not a lot you can do unless you want to shorten it even further or pay for expensive extensions. Never suffer through bad hair days ever again with this cheat sheet.
We decided over at Booky that it’s high time to go beyond food and give you more. There’s so much to do and discover and we’re opening up Metro Manila to help you find your flavor starting with fitness and beauty. The new and improved Booky is stronger and cuter than ever.
How to Figure Out Your Face Shape
Stand in front of a mirror and pull your hair back. With an erasable marker, trace your hairline, jawline, chin, and the length of your face. Take a few steps back and observe: what shape does it resemble the closest?
Round
Round faces have full cheeks, no prominent angles, and pretty much have an equal length and width. Haircuts that fall below the chin fits best, but textured pixie cuts could also be an option. You roll with these round-faced celebs: Emma Stone, Chrissy Teigen, and Lana Condor.
What looks good: a deep side part paired with side-swept bangs, layered cuts that fall below the jawline, a textured pixie cut with angular side bangs, long hair with long layers
What doesn’t: flat, untextured hair; full bangs that make the face appear shorter
Square
Square faces have broad and angular jawlines and hairlines, flat-ish chins, and short lengths. This type of face benefits most from wispy haircuts that balance out the harsh angles. Your fellow square-faced celebrities are Demi Lovato, Dua Lipa, and Kylie Jenner.
What looks good: long bobs with soft layers that are slightly shorter at the back, long layers, side-swept bangs, soft waves
What doesn’t: short, one-length bobs, blunt and boxy haircuts
Oval
Oval faces have semi-rounded jawlines that are a bit narrower than the forehead and face lengths that are slightly longer than its width. Lucky you if you have this face shape because almost all haircuts suit your face shape! Celebrities that have the same face shape are Bella Hadid, Kate Middleton, and Blake Lively.
What looks good: Off-center or deep side parts paired with a shoulder-length bob that has minimal layers, long layers styles with beachy waves
What doesn’t: blunt bangs that don’t skim the eyebrows
Oblong
Oblong faces are similar to square faces, but have longer lengths. Oblong faces have foreheads and jawlines that look similar. Adding volume to your hair balances out the length of the face, so best to style your hair in curls or waves. Your oblong-faced celeb twins are Liv Tyler, Carrie Underwood, and Sarah Jessica Parker.
What looks good: off-center parts, layered cuts, side swept bangs, full fringes, and classic bobs
What doesn’t: center parts, short bangs, chin-length bobs that are flat, pixie cuts that add height
Heart
Heart-shaped faces have wide foreheads and narrow chins. Heart-shaped faces tend to have a widow’s peak hairline as well. The most flattering cuts for this type of face shape detracts attention from the forehead and adds width to the lower portion of the face. These celebs also have a heart-shaped face: Reese Witherspoon, Scarlett Johansson, and Sarah Hyland.
What looks good: textured bobs, side-swept bangs, face-framing layers, short hairstyles that add height
What doesn’t: short, blunt bangs and choppy layers
