It improves your mobility and flexibility

Dance teaches the body different ways to move. From splits, to handstands, dance is primarily about movement, and it will help the train the body to become more flexible and move easier.

As you take on more challenging steps and stunts over time, your body becomes more trained to be able to move the way you want it to. It’s a great way to push the boundaries of your body.

Muscle strengthening and toning

If you’re looking to tone your body, dance can help you out with that too. Learning different steps and repeatedly performing these do yield results over time. Practice always makes progress!

While you might not immediately see results, you’ll notice your body getting stronger as your train to be able to perform the steps. This helps build core muscles, giving you better control of your body.

It’s an effective (and fun) cardio

Most cardio workouts like running or cycling, can get pretty dull overtime with its repetitiveness. While these workouts surely are effective, it’s not the only way for to burn down some fats.

Taking choreography classes can almost equal a light cardio session,all the way up to a high intensity one, depending on the difficulty. You could also take Zumba classes, which make use of simple dance steps that keep your body moving and grooving.

Dance is able to break you into a sweat, without breaking the fun.

Improves memory and coordination

Dance choreographies are usually a bit daunting to people when they haven’t done a lot of dancing beforehand. But it’s really just a sequence of steps, and all you need to do is to learn and remember them in order to dance them.

It’s not about getting it perfectly, but practicing it until you are able to perform it confidently, and getting better each time. Dancing is a great way to train the mind to process information more quickly and retain it better. After a few learned choreographies, you’ll find that you start being able to learn quicker and quicker.
