Have you heard of Halo-Halo and Sansrival toasts?
Branches: UP Town Center, Glorietta 2, Trinoma, SM North The Block
Cafe Shibuya is a Japanese cafe specializing in signature sweet and savory Shibuya toasts, inspired by the original honey bread in Japan. From dessert cafe, it has now evolved into a full-service restaurant offering Japanese-Italian fusion pastas, other light meals and specialty beverages. And by specialty beverages, we mean their bestselling Ghirardelli chocolate drinks.
Shibuya Toast is the sweeter Japanese version of the classic French toast. Beautiful to capture with all its colors and depth, it is a mountainous dish of stacked buttery breads, maple syrup, whipped cream, ice-cream and berries.
But at Cafe Shibuya, you get more than the standard Shibuya toasts, it offers specialty toasts, pizza toasts and dessert toasts–all buttery, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Owners Cathy and Cheryl Lao Lee guarantees that their breads are the stars of the plate and not the toppings.
Sisters Cathy and Cheryl Lao Lee, of Penguin apparel, are the owners of Cafe Shibuya.
Now on its 4th branch since they opened in 2013, Cafe Shibuya shows no signs of stopping.
In fact, it only gets better from here because with the opening of their SM North The Block branch, they also launched 2 new dessert toasts–the Halo Halo and Sansrival Dessert Toasts. Both are stars in their own right.
Halo-Halo Toast
A masterpiece and a burst of all the colorful toppings that the traditional Pinoy Halo-halo dessert has. This is such a great infusion of Filipino flavors to its menu.
Ingredients: buttered toasts | vanilla and ube ice cream | kaong | nata de coco | buko | beans | ube | leche flan
Sansrival Toast
Simple yet captivating. Despite its lack of color in comparison to the halo-halo, this dessert toast is a winner. The buttery toasts have crispy edges, the crushed sansrival gives it a crunchy attribute. It’s just the perfect marriage.
Ingredients: buttered toasts | sansrival | 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream | pistachios
