Cafe Sanso – Little Baguio
Café Sanso is named after the internationally acclaimed artist, master painter and printmaker, Juvenal Sansó. The casual dining restaurant is located beside Fundacion Sansó (Sanso Museum) in San Juan City, established in 2015 with the guidance and generous support of the artist himself.
Fun Fact: Sanso was born in Reus, Catalonia, Spain in 1929. Five years later, his family moved to Manila where Sanso enjoyed an idyllic childhood until World War II broke out in the Philippines
The restaurant is run by sisters Hazel and Arielle Frias with Executive Chef JB Calungcaguin, who is considered one of the many bright young chefs in the local culinary scene.
Like the master Sansó, the cafe’s menu is Spanish with a Filipino heart. With Chef JB at the helm of the kitchen, the restaurant serves international dishes like pizza, pasta and steaks, as well as traditional Spanish dishes including paella, callos, croquetas, and jamon.
It’s always nice to feel cultured so, if you’re ever in Little Baguio, make sure you stop by both the museum and cafe. It’s not everyday that you can dine and appreciate art at the same time!

Raclette Charcuterie Platter
Jamon serrano, salami, chorizo pamplona, potatoes, olives all topped with melty raclette
Spanish Caprese Bruschetta
Francesinha
Jamon serrano, cajun sausage, sauteed wild mushrooms, chive cream cheese spread on batard bread, covered in mozzarella and asiago cheese, served with spiced marinara sauce and seasoned potato wedges (₱395)
Fun Fact: The Francesinha is a type of sandwich that originated from Portugal. Cafe Sanso is believed to be the only restaurant that serves it here in the Philippines!
Truffle Pizza
Black truffle puree, jamon serrano slices, three kinds of melting cheese (₱895)
Sanso isn’t your typical cafe. Here, diners aren’t limited to just coffee, pastries, and other small bites. They also offer more substantial dishes.

Paella Valenciana
Twice-cooked pork, cajun chicken, squid, shrimp and chorizo on saffron rice (₱785)
Pan-Fried Catch of the Day
Pan-fried seasonal fish in lemon butter and caper sauce, served with chorizo and couscous, finished with cherry tomatoes and onion relish (₱425)
Beef Salpicao
Tender US beef hanger strips flavored with roasted garlic, Sanso’s salpicao sauce, green chili, and peppers (₱435)
